About the Legal Team
The IBFD Legal & Compliance (L&C) team, part of the Finance & Legal department, consists of professionals with strong core expertise who provide organization‑wide support. L&C plays a vital role in advising and supporting the business across a broad range of legal and compliance matters. The team ensures full adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, while enabling business teams to operate efficiently, confidently, and in line with IBFD’s strategic objectives.
The Role
We are currently looking for a Legal Intern (full-time or part-time), preferably starting as soon as possible. You will support the Legal Team in its daily operations and ongoing projects, contributing to a wide range of areas including corporate governance, commercial matters, data protection and privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property (IP), and procurement. This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and confidentiality, and who is eager to learn about various areas of law within a dynamic, international environment while communicating effectively and professionally with stakeholders.
What will you do?
As a Legal Intern, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with corporate governance tasks such as drafting documents, preparing corporate documents, and maintaining company records.
- Supporting GDPR and broader privacy compliance efforts by maintaining the RoPA, assisting with DPA reviews, contributing to the development and improvement of privacy policies and procedures, supporting privacy risk assessments and DPIAs when needed, and responding to day‑to‑day privacy related inquiries.
- Supporting preliminary reviews of contracts and procurement work, including reviewing NDAs, agreements, and vendor/third-party documents.
- Assisting with regulatory requests, internal legal inquiries, and correspondence with authorities or third parties.
- Assisting with IP matters such as reviewing R&P permissions requests, supporting and managing documentation.
- Performing legal research across Dutch and international legal topics relevant to corporate, procurement, and/or privacy law.
- Helping draft and update legal templates, internal guidelines, and process documentation.
- Collaborating with various departments to support compliance and legal operations across the organization.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in law.
- Demonstrated experience or strong knowledge of corporate law, privacy and/or procurement law.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Dutch language skills are a strong asset.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Able to work independently while being a team player.
- Comfortable working with digital tools including legal research platforms.
