Assistant Controller Finance
Job Purpose
The Assistant Financial Controller supports the Financial Controller and Senior Manager Finance in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance and driving efficiency in financial operations. This role combines hands-on G/L accounting expertise with responsibilities in financial control and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management
- Review, reconcile and maintain G/L accounts and sub-ledgers.
- Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end closings.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data across all ledgers.
- Closing & Compliance
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with Dutch GAAP and internal policies.
- Assist in internal and external audits, providing required documentation.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in drafting monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Analyse variances and provide insights to support decision making.
- Prepare specifications and explanations for balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Contribute to budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Monitor actuals versus budget and report deviations.
- Process & System Optimization
- Identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Work with ERP systems (preferably Dynamics 365FO) and Excel for automation and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Education: University degree in finance, accounting or business economics.
- Experience:
- 5-10 years in accounting, with strong G/L experience.
- Exposure to international environments and complex financial structures.
- Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and G/L processes.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Dynamics 365FO preferred) and Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch.
- Personal Attributes:
- Accurate, structured and detail-oriented.
- Proactive, independent and able to work under pressure.
- Team player with a hands-on mentality.
Salary & fringe benefits
We offer you a full-time (37 hours) position with a starting salary, depending on background and relevant work experience, between €3,200 and €3,900 (based on full-time employement) gross per month. This is completed by an attractive package of fringe benefits, including:
