(Senior) Associate
The IBFD Academic department is responsible, among others, for fundamental research in matters of international, European, comparative and domestic taxation. Over the past few years, it has developed and contributed to important research projects (comprising both internal and external collaborative research projects). IBFD Academic also actively organizes conferences and workshops around the world on relevant tax topics. We currently have an opening for the challenging position of:
Associate/Senior Associate
The Associate and/or Senior Associate will be responsible for initiating, maintaining, developing, and taking complete responsibility for production processes of IBFD Academic. The role will balance research knowledge with entrepreneurial skills and a keen interest in online publishing developments as well as a strong sense for relationship management.
We prefer the ideal candidate to start on or before September 1, 2025.
Research and lecturing responsibilities
- Research and project management of academic research activities in the field of domestic, international, comparative and European taxation; follow-up on the project’s activities including conference organization, speaker management, author’s correspondence
- Editing (including linguistic, style and content / scientific editing) of scientific documents (reports, memo’s, drafts, input statements, etc.) at a postdoctoral quality level; lecturing if required
- Base research for other researchers or other projects (case law, domestic and international positive law, scholarly literature) in selected topics in the field of international, European or comparative taxation
- Promotion of IBFD products and services
- Teaching, lecturing activities and related services (creation or update of syllabus, of reading materials, of slides, creation of exams, marking exams and communications)
- Coordinating or supporting editorial production processes
- Monitoring with a proactive attitude relevant developments in the international tax framework to be included in IBFD publications
- Coordinating the optimal workflow of the editorial activities and the publication process (editing, link incorporation etc.).
Requirements and skills
- PhD degree in (tax) law with knowledge and experience in the field of International tax law; we will accept applications of those within the 6 months of defending their thesis.
- Fluency in English (academic level); knowledge of other foreign languages would be an asset
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and to prioritize collective achievements over individual achievements
- Willingness to do all the tasks required to ensure the quality of the product
- Ability to work independently and under prefixed deadlines; ability to meet deadlines
- Diplomacy and persuasion
- Excellent computer skills (mainly MS Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to anticipate project related needs and propose efficient solutions to solve them.
Please note that the work is to be performed at the IBFD Headquarters in Amsterdam; fully remote working is not available for this position.
Salary & fringe benefits
We offer a full-time position (37 hours per week) with a salary, depending the level of seniority and relevant work experience between EUR 4.500 and 6.500 gross per month (please note that the salary range is broad and that the actual offer would depend on your level of seniority). Completed by an attractive package of fringe benefits, amongst others:
