Senior Business Controller Finance

As our Senior Business Controller Finance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Reporting & Control function. You are an inspiring sparring partner for the Executive Board and the Finance Manager, with whom you work closely together. Although you will be part of the Finance Department, you will also have a reporting line to the CEO. You also connect with middle management, business owners, and your Finance colleagues. Together you excel in translating business desires into well-founded business cases and subsequently into practical processes and solutions. The role of internal ambassador suits you perfectly.

You are the strategic and operational business partner for the Executive Board and management in general when it comes to achieving business objectives and (sometimes complex) financial issues as well. Together you map out the financial consequences of IBFD's strategic decisions, while the finance team helps you with your role as strategic partner of upper management. You ensure that the correct financial information is collected, bundled, executed, and communicated correctly. This way you help the decision makers to make the right decisions at the right time and achieve targets. 

You can be described as a hands-on type of person, who is always open to taking on different tasks. Apart from being responsible for the operational financial side of your work, you co-create and co-organize the planning and control cycle, management reporting, budgeting and financial performance.

Main responsibilities

Strategic level

  1. Develop a solid understanding of the market benchmark the operation against competitors etc; 
  2. Taking the lead in the budgeting and forecasting cycle and working closely with the Finance Manager and the Executive Board:
  • Advising on the financial feasibility, impact and risks when implementing business policies;
  • Creating and implementing an effective planning, control and forecasting cycle; 
  • Leading the budgeting process, forecasting and ensure good KPI (financial, commercial and operational) performance by the various departments within IBFD; 
  • Supporting the Executive Board and middle management in the translation of (monthly) reports, forecasts, budgeting of the departments; 
  • Partner with the business when it comes to creating and analysing budgets for a range of categories; 
  • Identifying bottlenecks and improvement points, making optimization and improvement proposals. 

Operational level

  • Analysing management information and providing added value advice in order to improve the performance of the various entities within IBFD; 
  • Preparing management reports and analyses, including supporting with periodic and annual closings; 
  • Creating timely and accurate financial statements, such as balance sheets, annual (audited) accounts and periodical reports;
  • Stimulating process improvement and KPI development at the various entities; 
  • Providing insights to senior management on financial modelling, forecasting and profitability; 
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships to develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts; 
  • Providing support to Finance and IT in developing IT tools to improve the reliability, effectiveness and efficiency of periodic and ad-hoc reporting requirements. 

Profile

We are looking for a person who:

  • has strong analytical and conceptual skills to ensure a smooth, timely and accurate processing of our financial data;
  • is able to translate objectives in clear and practical solutions;
  • professionally mature, independent, and proactive; 
  • Independent advisor and sparring partner.

Requirements

  • You have a bachelor or master degree in Finance (and Accounting) or (Business) Economics at HBO/WO level, possibly supplemented with an RC training;
  • You have advanced knowledge and experience with PowerBI, Excel, affinity with IT (solutions) and ERP;
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of experience in a Business Control role, preferably in an international working environment;
  • You are independent professional who naturally "thinks and does" simultaneously.

Salary & Fringe Benefits

Depending on background and relevant work experience, we offer a salary between EUR 5,700 and EUR 6,200 (37 hrs), completed by an attractive package of fringe benefits, amongst others:  

  • Premium free pension; 
  • 8% holiday pay;  
  • Flexibility with 5.44% Personal Budget (individual choice to accumulate up to 33 days paid holiday per year or end-of-year bonus);
